Oral Maxillofacial Radiographic Pathology™ |

Oral Max Demo (please allow some time to load) A new clinical
software which serves two major purposes. First,
it is a refresher tutorial for the basics of Oral-Maxillofacial radiographic
pathology. Second, it is a valuable resource tool for rapid disease image
reference on the tutorial modules have been completed. It is understandable
that many practitioners feel uncomfortable in dealing with oral-maxillofacial
pathology in their practices. Abnormal lesions of either soft tissue or
bone are not encountered on a daily basis, but such a lesion may mean
everything to a patient. Further more, it may have been years since you
studied pathology. OralMax is a modern tool intended to overcome these
limitations. It enables you to:
The primary role of oral-maxillofacial or dental radiographs is to detect disease and/or abnormal findings, or to assure the patient that their oral health is normal. There are more than 300 diseases or conditions that may be first detected upon viewing OMF radiographs. In other words, a Dentist or Dental Hygienist may be the first to suspect or detect anyone of these diseases or conditions. Many of these can be present without clinical signs or symptoms, so it is imperative that the clinician who wishes to provide high quality professional care make radiographic examination a standard part of their patient care. OralMax
includes the following tutorial modules: Each tutorial follows an organized approach based upon the morphological features of most abnormal or disease changes. They also include a review of normal anatomical structures that share these morphological characteristics. Each module contains lists of various types of diseases or conditions which may present as a particular morphological change. In addition
to the tutorals there are three comprehensive image resources which can
be instantly searched either by Morphological Features (Radiopaque
and Radiolucent) or by Alphabetic Listing of disease name. OralMax can therefore serve as a valuable differential diagnostic aid. Many abnormal radiographic lesions cannot be diagnosed specifically from radiographbic features alone, but often require biopsy and microscopic examination by a Pathologist. With the information, lists, and image examples included in OralMax, it becomes easier and less time consuming to formulate a reasonable differential diagnosis. In turn, it prepares the user to discuss the finding with the surgeon, pathologist or other professional that may become involved with the particular case. OralMax also prepares you to discuss the possible diagnoses and management with the patient in a more intelligent manner. |
